Midland Bank PLC has formalised a strategic partnership with MetLife Bangladesh to provide comprehensive insurance coverage for its employees and their dependents. Under the new agreement, approximately 600 permanent employees of Midland Bank will be protected against accidents, disabilities, and loss of life, while their family members will receive in-patient, out-patient, and maternity insurance benefits.
The agreement was signed by Md Ahsan-uz Zaman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Midland Bank, and Ala Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, on behalf of their respective organisations. The collaboration reflects both parties’ commitment to prioritising employee welfare and financial security.
MetLife Bangladesh recently conducted the “Employee Benefit Trends Study (EBTS)” survey among private-sector employees in the country. The survey revealed that over 56 per cent of employees believe financial worries negatively affect their productivity, while 41 per cent associate financial stress with mental health challenges. Notably, 78 per cent of respondents stated that access to insurance and wellness benefits—including mental health support—increases employee loyalty and engagement.
Midland Bank selected MetLife as its insurance partner due to the insurer’s strong track record in claims settlement, ability to offer tailored solutions, advanced digital dashboards, cashless hospitalisation, ambulance services, and robust financial capacity.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Md Ahsan-uz Zaman said, “We strongly believe that providing insurance benefits will enhance our employees’ sense of belonging and loyalty. The long-awaited group insurance facility will ensure affordable, high-quality treatment for our staff and their families, offering protection against unexpected medical costs and financial uncertainty.”

Midland Bank has been operating in Bangladesh since 2013, offering a wide range of banking services and investment opportunities. MetLife Bangladesh currently provides insurance protection to around one million individual customers and over 900 organisations, holding the record for settling the highest number of insurance claims in the country.
