In a remarkable shift towards digital services, the Philippines’ Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has revealed that its mobile app, GSIS Touch, now has over two million registered users. This milestone covers a large portion of the over 2.7 million members and pensioners it serves. The app is a central component of GSIS’s ongoing digital transformation, providing easy access to a wide range of services that were previously only available in physical branches.

Since its launch in 2020, GSIS Touch has developed into a comprehensive platform where members can access their accounts, apply for emergency loans, file insurance claims, and track their requests in real-time. The app uses advanced facial recognition technology for secure identification, and the GSIS Digital ID replaces the traditional physical UMID cards that were previously required for identification.

The app has drastically reduced the need for in-person visits to the branch, with GSIS reporting that online enrollment has led to a remarkable 77% reduction in processing times. This shift to digital services is part of GSIS’s broader effort to streamline operations, improve customer experience, and make its services more accessible.

With 99.6% of GSIS’s services now available online, the platform is providing an enhanced, user-friendly experience for its members and pensioners. The company plans to continue expanding the app’s capabilities, including introducing more features that will further enhance the convenience, security, and efficiency of the services offered.
