Senior Leadership Reshuffle Across US Insurance Firms

Several leading players in the United States insurance sector have announced significant senior leadership appointments this week, underscoring a continued emphasis on operational excellence, underwriting expertise, and strategic expansion in employee benefits services. The moves highlight a broader trend among insurers to strengthen executive teams in response to evolving market demands and digital transformation imperatives.

Andover Strengthens Executive Leadership

The Andover Companies has appointed two veteran executives to pivotal leadership roles, effective 1 March 2026, as part of its ongoing executive succession planning and organisational evolution.

Paul Nadeau has been named Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Having served at Andover since 1992, Nadeau’s extensive experience spans personal and commercial lines underwriting, product development, business intelligence, loss control, and reinsurance. In his new capacity, he will oversee enterprise operations, including underwriting, claims, marketing, reinsurance, digital experience, and information technology.

Patrick Duchette has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer. A long-standing colleague since 2008, Duchette brings nearly two decades of industry experience and will now lead personal and commercial lines underwriting, product development, and loss control initiatives.

These appointments follow Andover’s recent reorganisation into a mutual holding company, designed to preserve its mutual heritage while providing strategic flexibility for long-term growth.

Church Mutual Reinforces Operational Expertise

Pam Rushing has been elevated to Chief Operating Officer, focusing on digital transformation, process optimisation, and seamless operations across claims and IT. Joining Church Mutual in June 2023, she previously held senior leadership roles at another national insurer.

Neil Ziegler has been appointed Chief Underwriting Officer for Admitted Business. Since joining in January 2025 as Vice President of Religious Markets Underwriting, Ziegler has accumulated over 20 years of underwriting and leadership experience. He now oversees admitted underwriting strategy, broker support, risk selection, and performance alignment.

These changes signal Church Mutual’s commitment to operational strength and market responsiveness.
