WCL Launches Groundbreaking Digital Platform for Treaty Risk Placement in Bermuda

Web Connectivity Limited (WCL), a subsidiary of Zywave, has launched an industry-first digital platform designed to streamline the Treaty risk placement process in Bermuda. The platform aims to enhance efficiency by consolidating treaty submissions from multiple brokers into a single, standardised interface for underwriters.

The WCL-enabled Placing platform offers reinsurers a unified user interface to view and interact with broker submissions. It also automatically ingests large modelling files, eliminating the need to download data from broker systems, and supports standardised data formats based on ACORD GRLC ePlacing standards. This approach ensures a consistent and scalable process for all parties involved.

This digital solution addresses challenges posed by the growing number of bespoke broking platforms, which often complicate workflows and make it harder to access risk data and manage submission files.

The platform officially went live last week with Ark Bermuda, Vantage Risk, and Aon’s Reinsurance business, which is leading the charge in transforming the way digital Treaty placements are processed. Troy Hughes, Global Director of eCommerce at Aon, commented, “Having an end-to-end solution from placing through settlement has been a long-term goal for the industry. This initiative marks a significant achievement towards creating a truly data-first marketplace that offers insurer clients more real-time insights, greater transparency, and improved efficiency when optimising reinsurance placements.”

James Willison, Managing Director of WCL, added, “The successful pilot in 2025 and the recent go-live are significant steps towards creating a fully digital marketplace in Bermuda. We’ve worked closely with brokers and carriers on the island to deliver digital accounting, settlement, and claims solutions. This new platform addresses the clear need for a simplified, digital way to access and manage risk submissions.”

Other brokers, including Lockton Re, are scheduled to join the platform by early 2026, with RenaissanceRe also expected to come on board in due course.

“This is a proud moment for our team and the market,” said Casey Chlebek, Head of Underwriting Operations at Ark Bermuda. “We’ve worked hard to bring this vision to life, and we’re thrilled to be at the forefront of this industry-first initiative.”

Clarissa Montecillo, Managing Director – UK at ACORD, remarked, “Placing is the next digital frontier, requiring both technology and process transformation. We are proud to provide the ACORD community and the global (re)insurance market with the data standards that will lay the foundation for a truly interconnected digital ecosystem.”
