British insurer Aviva has appointed Richard Taylor as Head of Cyber & Technology Errors & Omissions (E&O), following the company’s acquisition of Probitas Holdings (Bermuda) Limited for £249 million in July 2024. Taylor will now oversee all Cyber and Tech E&O operations across the Aviva Group.
Taylor brings over 15 years of experience in the insurance sector, having worked with global underwriting teams specialising in both traditional and emerging Cyber and Technology E&O risk products across Financial Lines, Healthcare, Retail, Technology Services, and Energy sectors.
He joined Probitas in April 2022, where he most recently held the role of Head of Cyber and Technology.
Before that, Taylor was a Senior Cyber Underwriter at Munich Re, where he underwrote cyber risks for first- and third-party damages across a wide range of industries, including Energy, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Retail, Finance, and IT/Technology Services. During his time at Munich Re, he also played a key role in launching the Munich Re Syndicate Cyber team in 2016.
