L’Unique General Insurance and AIM Insurance have both been awarded eDocs Certification by the Centre for the Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO), marking a significant advancement in the digital connectivity between insurers and brokers.
This certification verifies that the insurers’ electronic documents now feature updated codes and descriptions, enabling brokers to identify the nature of each document without having to open it. This streamlining of workflows is designed to enhance operational efficiency, ensuring quicker, more accurate service for clients.
L’Unique has updated all of its eDocs to comply with CSIO’s standards, while AIM Insurance has incorporated all 40 updated codes into its broker software, Automate Insurance. These updates ensure that brokers can process clearly labelled eDocs more efficiently, reducing administrative burdens and allowing them to focus on delivering better service to their clients.
Guy Lecours, Chief Operating Officer at L’Unique, stated that the certification strengthens broker connectivity and supports smoother daily operations. Dan Avon, President of AIM Insurance, highlighted that this milestone underscores both insurers’ commitment to upholding industry standards and their dedication to helping brokers build stronger relationships with their customers.
This development is part of a broader industry shift towards digital efficiency. As policy volumes rise and coverage becomes increasingly complex, eDocs Certification allows brokers to minimise errors, expedite processing times, and maintain consistent handling of client documents.
Industry analysts have noted that standardising electronic documents also enhances interoperability between insurers and Broker Management Systems (BMS), which in turn allows brokers to manage tasks more effectively, improving operational efficiency throughout the market.
Several other Canadian insurers have also recently achieved eDocs Certification. Max Insurance and The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group have updated their eDocs to meet the latest standards, while Gore Mutual Insurance Company has received certification as well. These certifications ensure that their electronic document transmissions align with the updated industry requirements. With all BMS vendors now implementing the revised standards, brokers across Canada can receive clearly labelled eDocs directly within their systems, simplifying workflows and ensuring more consistent service delivery.
By adopting CSIO’s eDocs Standards, these insurers are helping brokers improve both productivity and operational accuracy, while reinforcing the importance of digital connectivity and data clarity within the Canadian insurance sector.
