MetLife, in partnership with the international advocacy organisation Global Citizen, has announced the launch of a new global initiative titled ‘Footwork for Futures’. This social media-based challenge is designed to foster activity, confidence, and engagement among children and young people through the integration of education and sports. The programme specifically aims to expand educational and athletic opportunities in developing nations.
Campaign Mechanics and Participation
The initiative invites individuals from across the globe, including Bangladesh, to participate by creating a brief video of themselves attempting or performing football juggling. These videos are to be shared on prominent social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter). To ensure eligibility for the campaign, participants must include the hashtag #FootworkForFutures in their posts.
For every qualified video submission, MetLife has pledged to donate $5 (USD) to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. This specific donation drive aims to reach a maximum threshold of $100,000. The funds collected will be distributed via various global organisations to enhance access to education and sporting facilities for children.

Institutional Support and Guidelines
This initiative represents a component of a broader commitment by the MetLife Foundation, which has already pledged a total of $9 million to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. These resources are dedicated to implementing diverse education and sports-based programmes globally.
Ala Ahmad, the Chief Executive Officer of MetLife Bangladesh, noted that football serves as a unifying force. He stated that the convergence of sport and education creates new opportunities for development, allowing people in Bangladesh and elsewhere to contribute to a positive global transformation in an accessible and engaging manner.
Participation does not require professional athletic skill; the challenge is designed to be inclusive, welcoming anyone who attempts the juggling task in a safe manner. However, all submissions must adhere to the specific community guidelines of the respective social media platforms and the campaign’s terms. Global Citizen retains the authority to disqualify any video that fails to meet safety or eligibility criteria. The campaign will remain active until 19 July 2026, or until the stipulated donation limit is reached.
