Sangareddy, 6–7 March 2026: In a landmark initiative to simplify health insurance claims and standardise processes across India, the National Health Authority (NHA) has officially launched the National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX). The announcement was made during a two-day NHCX Innovation Meet held at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad), where Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO of NHA, emphasised the transformative potential of the platform.
Addressing attendees, Dr Barnwal stated, “The complexity of health insurance claims remains one of the major challenges for India’s healthcare ecosystem. NHCX is designed not merely for hospitals or insurers, but for the entire healthcare continuum. Patients, healthcare providers, insurers, and technology innovators are all integral to its ecosystem. Our vision is to create a reliable, seamless, and trusted digital public infrastructure, akin to UPI, to drive transparency and efficiency.”
The Innovation Meet featured discussions on the pivotal role of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and data-driven systems in streamlining health insurance processes. Experts highlighted that leveraging such technologies will not only accelerate claim processing but also enhance service quality and trust in the healthcare system.
