Fidelis Insurance Group has appointed William Waddell-Dudley as its new UK Chief Underwriting Officer. Waddell-Dudley, who brings over 20 years of experience in the London (re)insurance market, will report to Group Chief Underwriting Officer Ian Houston and join Fidelis’ executive leadership team.
Prior to joining Fidelis, Waddell-Dudley served as Lead Underwriter for specialty reinsurance at IQUW, focusing on marine, energy, cyber, and aviation lines. He also previously headed accident and health underwriting teams at AmTrust at Lloyd’s and Talbot Underwriters and began his career as an underwriter at AIG and Hiscox.
Ian Houston said: “I am pleased to welcome Waddell-Dudley to Fidelis Insurance Group. His extensive underwriting knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and expand our London underwriting operations. His appointment recognises our commitment to continued and sustainable growth.”
Driving Growth
Headquartered in Bermuda, Fidelis Insurance Group writes a diversified portfolio of specialty risks through its operations in the UK, Bermuda, and Ireland. Waddell-Dudley will collaborate with Fidelis’ Bermuda and Ireland Chief Underwriting Officers to shape the firm’s strategy and drive underwriting innovation within its UK operations.
This appointment comes alongside recent developments at Fidelis, including the launch of Syndicate 2126 by The Fidelis Partnership in collaboration with Blackstone. The new syndicate, approved in principle by Lloyd’s, will write $300 million in gross written premiums (GWP) across property, specialty, and bespoke lines.
With these initiatives, Fidelis aims to exceed $1.3 billion in GWP by 2026, reflecting the company’s ambition for sustained growth and expansion across its global operations.
